O Ministério da Integração e do Desenvolvimento Regional (MIDR), por meio da Defesa Civil Nacional, reconheceu a situação de emergência por estiagem em 66 cidades do Piauí. A portaria foi publicada no Diário Oficial da União (DOU). O Piauí tem 81 municípios em emergência, sendo 78 por estiagem, dois por chuvas intensas e um por seca. Essas cidades poderão receber recursos do governo federal e ainda adotar medidas emergenciais com a dispensa de licitação.
