O caso teve grande repercussão após a divulgação de imagens de câmeras de segurança
A Polícia Civil do Piauí, em parceria com a de Pernambuco, prendeu nesta quinta-feira (20) em Timon (MA) o comerciante F. R. de H. C., de 55 anos, acusado de matar o turista americano David Barbosa de Carvalho, de 42 anos, em Recife (PE). O crime ocorreu em 15 de janeiro, após uma discussão sobre uma suposta dívida de consumo de cerveja, resultando em cinco disparos contra a vítima.

Após o homicídio, o acusado fugiu para Teresina, onde ficou hospedado em um apartamento na Zona Leste, e depois se internou em uma clínica para tratamento contra o alcoolismo em Timon, tentando escapar das autoridades.
O mandado de prisão preventiva foi expedido pela 4ª Vara do Tribunal do Júri de Pernambuco. O caso teve grande repercussão após a divulgação de imagens de câmeras de segurança. A operação reforça a importância da cooperação policial interestadual no combate à impunidade.
